Alpha Packaging Continues National Expansion of Capacity and Capabilities.
Leading North American blow molder is on schedule to complete 20 machine installations in 2012, including a net gain of 12 machines with over $35 million in additional capacity
ST. LOUIS, MO – 11/5/12
Ten months into a year that promises double-digit growth for Alpha Packaging, the company is completing the installation of three additional blow molding machines, which will culminate in a total of 20 machine installations in 2012. The additions and upgrades support Alpha’s strategy of offering duplicate blow sets across its North American manufacturing footprint, so customers can order bottles from locations closest to their fillers and expansion of its ability to capture new growth across key segments. While some of the new machines replaced older, less efficient equipment, Alpha will have a net gain of 12 machines and $35 million in additional capacity compared to where it started the year. By December 31, Alpha’s manufacturing footprint will have a total of 180 machines operating at seven North American manufacturing sites and one plant in Europe, with more than $270 million in capacity.
Alpha’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Kellar, says Alpha is one of the few North American companies in the packaging industry that is reinvesting in new equipment and capacity. “We are working closely in partnership with key customers to invest in the technologies and blow molds that support their growth,” Kellar says. “With this additional capacity, we’ve increased our ability to serve our primary markets such as nutritional, pharmaceutical and personal care. We’ve also dramatically expanded the number of products we can offer to the food, household and automotive chemical segments. Our continued expansion reinforces our commitment to offer the best quality and speed to market with one of the largest portfolios of stock and custom bottles in the industry.”
