What
does it mean to turn the science of packaging into an art?
At Alpha, it means thinking about things in our world that
combine great functionality and great visual appeal, and then
applying what those things possess to a new package.
Alpha's in-house design and engineering team works with
distributors and end-users to create packages that solve
a specific customer's problem. We also design dozens of new
proprietary packages each year to add to our stock selection
of bottles and jars.
Beginning with a sketch, Alpha moves to CAD/CAM
drawings and foam molds of new designs. Then, unit cavities
are developed and tested before we make production tooling.
Terry
Allen, Package Designer
For inspiration, Alpha works with renowned artist
and package designer Terry Allen to get initial ideas onto
paper and move them through the package engineering process.
Terry consults with our customers about their packaging needs,
and consistently returns with ideas that meet both practical
and visual considerations. If you would like Terry's imput
on a new design, email him at tallen@alphap.com.
Terry studied at the school of Modern Art and
Design Laguna Beach California. He has served as an art director
for Vidi Ad Inc. in Newport Beach and his work has been displayed
in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad.
His artistic skills were applied to the practical art of packaging
design when he spent several years designing bottles and jars
for one the country's largest packaging manufacturers.
